Accent Tables - A Perfect Choice For Adding to Any Room in Your Home

Every home has it: that blank spot where nothing seems to fit. Too small for a furniture-seating piece, and too large for a plant, there must be something that would be just perfect! The answer is accent tables. One is ideal for any room in the house, and for any spot in any room.

Some accent tables have been crafted with a particular purpose in mind. Telephone tables were very popular during the reign of tabletop rotary dial telephones, and were designed to hold the telephone on the surface with a drawer underneath to hold the telephone directory. Entry tables were designated to stand stately next to the home's main entry door, often under a mirror where one might check her appearance before retrieving her car keys from the drawer of the table and leaving the house. Regardless, all of them can play double duty in your home.

Shapes of accent tables are varied to offer customers the greatest selection, with round, rectangular, square, and corner triangles dominating the market.

Round accent tables are often used in place of end tables in the living room, taking their place at the end of sofas or next to chairs where a reading lamp may repose. Standing either on multiple legs or a pedestal, they may be quite decorative on their own, with scalloped edges, scrolled and sculpted legs, and carved sidewalls. Drawers may be skillfully built into the rounded sides of the wood accent table. Round ones may be crafted from wood, metal, wrought iron, or any combination of these. The tops may be glass, wood, mirrored or tiled.

Rectangular accent tables have many uses in the home. A common use is as an end table, bedside table or side table, but their use is limited only to the imagination. A rectangular accent table may include a magazine rack underneath, with reading material contained within an arm's length of a nearby chair. Drawers may be included, where reading glasses, keys, phone books and such can be left safely until their next use is required.

Square accent tables are also invaluable little tables in any room. Standing alone by a wall or next to a chair or bed, these furnishings often stand on four legs, which may also include one or two shelves underneath the table top. They may be used purely for decorative purposes, holding a vase of flowers or a piece of artwork.

Corner triangle options are favorites among many people using accent tables. Formed specifically to fit into corners that generally stand empty, these little tables add interest by providing a stand for a cascading plant, or bring attention to the corner by displaying artwork, safely ensconced in the corner away from foot traffic. Often equipped with drawers and shelves, the corner triangle accent table can be extremely useful as well as decorative.

Add accent tables to any room in your home, and you will find that you have added not only an attractive feature to the room but a useful one as well.
